Available as a private tour, minimum 2 persons, daily from/to Chiang Mai
In the morning at time 08.30 you will be picked up from the hotel in Chiang Mai by our guide and driver. Leave the city behind and drive in northern direction.
Take a stroll over the local countryside market in Mae Malai, where locals, but also people from nearby hill tribe villages meet and trade their goods, mostly fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers. You can also taste some exotic snacks!
Then go on to Araksa Tea Plantation, where high quality Assam tea is produced, a black tea named after the name of India’s largest tea growing region. Enjoy the beauty of the lush grounds and learn all about the tea growing process. You are invited to join the tea picker, watch how the leaves are processed according to age-old traditions and of course you can taste a cup of tea with a traditional Thai snack.
A short transfer then will bring you to an Akha hill tribe village. The Akha’s are living in the mountains of Southern China, Laos, Myanmar and Northern Thailand (most of them in the provinces of Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai). They are also well known for their colorful daily attire.
