The valley of Mae Wang #CNX-901
On this excursion escape the city and spend a day in the nature of the Mae Wang Valley, which is just a one drive to the southwest from downtown Chiang Mai. It is known for natural attractions, incl. a national park, valleys and waterfalls. In the nearby hills you can find Karen and Hmong hill tribe villages. Have fun while bamboo rafting down the Mae Wang River.

Our tour guide and driver will pick you up from the hotel in Chiang Mai at time 08.30. Leave the city behind and drive for about one hour in southwestern direction via Hangdong and Sanpatong to Mae Wang and then further to Mae Win.
On route you get the chance to buy some snacks and drinks at a local market.
Mae Wang Valley with mountains, forests, rice fields and picturesque rural villages is one of the most beautiful areas of Chiang Mai province.
Stop first at a small elephant camp. Enjoy some time with these giants and you can also feed them (no shows and rides here!). Afterwards take a short walk to a Karen hill tribe village and time to observe the simple live out here in the wilderness.
The Karen hill tribe is the largest of the minority groups in Thailand. They originated from Tibet, then moved south to Myanmar and Northern Thailand. Most Karen villages you can find alongside the Thai-Myanmar border in the provinces of Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai.
Later you can relax at a small waterfall and chance to take a bath.
After lunch you will have fun with a trip on a bamboo raft down the Mae Wang River (sometimes it can get a bit wet!).
Then it's time for your transfer back to Chiang Mai and arrive your booked hotel by the late afternoon.
