DAY 1 CHIANG MAI - DOI INTHANON - BAAN MUANG AUAN (KAREN VILLAGE) L/D
Your tour guide and driver will pick you up from the hotel in Chiang Mai at time 09.00. Transfer by Pick Up Truck (takes about 1,5 hours) to Doi Inthanon National Park, which is also the location of Doi Inthanon, the highest peak of Thailand with 2565 meters above sea level. Take a stop at picturesque Watchiratharn Waterfall. Then proceed to the summit of the mountain. Here start to explore Anka Nature Trail with beautiful ever green forest. Then drive downhill to visit the Twin Pagodas that the Thai Air Force built in honor of their Majesty King & Queen for their 60th birthday anniversaries. From here you have some great views. At the nearby Hmong tribal market you have the chance to purchase some fruits and vegetables. After a late lunch start trekking for about 1,5 hours to Baan Muang Auan, a Karen hill tribe village. Enjoy touching beautiful atmosphere of the jungle trail. Spend the night in a simple hut at this friendly Karen village.
DAY 2 BAAN MUANG AUAN (KAREN) - BAAN HUAY HOI (KAREN VILLAGE) B/L/D
Have an early breakfast then continue your trek in the green hills, passing some small villages. It will take about 3,5 hours before reaching the Karen village of Baan Khun Na Sarn, where you will also take lunch. Afterwards take a stroll around the village to learn about the culture of the Karen people. Then go on and walk for another 2 hours before you arrive at Baan Huay Hoi, another Karen hill tribe village. Meet the Karen people, getting integrate with them by chatting and joining local activities. Spend another night in a basic hut here at the village, surrounded by the mountain wilderness.
DAY 3 BAAN HUAY HOI (KAREN VILLAGE) - CHIANG MAI B/L
After a filling breakfast take a trek for about 2 hours to the village of Baan Mae Sa Pok. On route your tour guide will show and explain you about Thai herbs and vegetation here in the area. A short transfer with the Pick Up Truck will bring you to a waterfall. You got some time to relax and swim. After lunch break at a local restaurant visit a small elephant camp and you get also the chance to feed these giants. Last but not least have fun on a bamboo raft (it can get wet) down the Mae Wang River. Then in the late afternoon it is time for your transfer back to your booked hotel in Chiang Mai.
REMARKS:
- A small rucksack and a water canteen can be provided (if you need it, please let us know at the time of booking).
- During the cool season (Nov. to Feb.) we do recommend to bring a long sleeves sweater or a jacket. A mosquito repellent and a torch can be very useful, as well. Otherwise light clothes and good walking shoes are recommended to wear during the trek.
- Accommodation in Chiang Mai before and/or after the tour can be booked with us as well.
PRICE INCLUDES:
All excursions as mentioned in the itinerary above, all transfers with a pick up truck, accommodation is very basic in a simple hut (with outside toilet) of bamboo and wood at Karen hill tribe villages and will consist of a thin mattress with a sleeping bag or blankets. English speaking tour guide, all meals as shown in the itinerary (B = breakfast, L = lunch and D = dinner),
